 This is one beautiful park and my only regret is that I didn't have time to explore more of the trails.

 Then head down this beautiful trail and listen to all of the little waterfalls.

 

 

Just in case you weren't listening to the little waterfalls, here is what you missed.

 Pass this sign which, unfortunately, is ignored.

 I was totally shocked when I saw this on the left side of the trail.

 Explore the ruins and then head back to the trail.  No, the box isn't at the little rock behind the tree.  It is beside the big rock on the right side of the picture.

 After you stamp in, walk a little further to see the Flat Rock, namesake of the trail.  Warning, if you care to test it out, the kids told me it is VERY cold.

Best Journal Ever

I have been boxing for years and for many of the early years, I used index card logbooks that I created myself using binder rings with scrapbook paper covers.  I moved on to making slightly fancier logbooks when I purchased a Bind It All tool.  Again, I used index cards but of the larger size which I cut in half.   Since I usually box alone, I was blissfully happy with my logbooks.  But, then, I began to box with friends more often and I began to notice that my stamped impressions were not as brilliant or as clear as theirs were.  We talked about it and I found out that their logbooks were using much better paper than I was using in my handmade logbooks.  So, I went out and bought Staples 110 pound cardstock.  I cut the cardstock into four evenly sized pieces, 4.25 inches by 5.5 inches and went to work with my Bind It All. 

 I also made heavy cardboard covers for these logbooks, I find it much easier to stamp against a hard cover than to try to find a hard surface.  Wow! what a difference this made.  I could proudly hold my stamp impressions up against anyone else with pride.

Then one day, I was shopping at AC Moore and found this:

I can't remember exactly how much it cost, I think it was under $10 and I had a 50% off coupon.  It was larger than my hand made logbooks but small enough to fit comfortably in each of my letterboxing packs (I have three packs, a fanny pack, which is my current favorite; a purse type pack for urban boxing and a backpack for longer distance boxing).   The brightly colored front cover is only a piece of paper which can be removed, leaving a solid brown cover which can be artistically decorated if desired.  I can easily fit six nice sized stamps on each page and because the pages are heavier than my old index cards, I am able to use both sides of the page with no bleed through.  And it has a nice heavy cover, making it easier to stamp anywhere.

I know that most newer boxers do all kinds of fancy things with their logbooks and using both sides of a page is taboo for them but after 14 years of boxing and at least 28 logbooks including four beautifully scrapbooked binders from my early days, I realized that no one will want these logbooks after I am no longer on this earth.  My joy is in finding the box, not in preserving my stamp impressions for eternity.  So.....I have now begun using these Strathmore journal which are also available through Amazon Prime, my favorite store at Strathmore Journal.

 This is as far north as you can drive on the South Shore road.

 

Pick me, pick me!

 Since this "trail" used to be a road, I am not exactly sure what this metal pole was used for.  Maybe as a landmark for a letterbox??  Note added:  the first finder of this box said that this is actually the second metal pole on the trail.  It was the only one I noticed but the growth was pretty high.

Walk up the messy macadam trail.

 When you see this sign, turn left onto the dirt trail.

 

Cross over these pipes. 

 

 The yellow blazes were few and far between.

 

Look for this carved beech tree.

 Then take a couple of steps forward on the trail, look uphill for this downed V tree.

Get a little closer and look behind the tree.

 

Whoop, there it is!

Good Drugs

The Empty Basket Series - The Boxing Box AQ 249780

 Find this preserve at 47 Rabbit Run Ln, Bear Creek Township, PA and park in the lot right off of the road.

 Be prepared!  The only thing I ran into while I was here was a garter snake and some boisterous dogs which were off leash.  (Yes, I did tell the owners they needed to be on leash.  They weren't too happy with me.)

Take the red trail which leads east right off the parking lot.  Watch for this large rock.

 Look on the back side of the rock, tucked between it and the tree.  Please use care if there are other hikers in the area.

The Boxing Box

Stained Glass #3 AQ 279961

I had passed this cemetery on the way to the Promised Land campground and kept kicking myself for not stopping to place a Stained Glass box there.  Miraculously, on the way home, I passed it again and stopped this time!

Low stone wall on the right side of the cemetery.

 

Pouch is tucked under the large rock at the base of the tree closest to the road.

There is no need to move any rocks to obtain the pouch.  Please fill the opening with ground clutter to prevent groundskeepers from finding it.  The decon container is not part of this box.
