Blue Moon

This one is pretty simple.  Go to the parking area for Polk Township Nature Park, Kresgeville, PA that is off of Route 534.  Coordinates are 40.904087248, -75.4986486644.  There is a parking area right off the road and if you take the road that leads from this parking area back into the woods, you will come to another parking lot.  This trail begins in the first lot and ends in the last lot.  Park in either lot and take either entrance to the trail.

 As you meander around this pretty little trail filled with rhododendron and hemlocks, keep an eye out for this bench.  While facing the bench, look to your right about 20 steps off trail for this medium sized hemlock surrounded by rhododendrons.
Edited June 15, 2018: you may want to look for this box in the winter or spring.  I made a return visit to this park to find a new series and while there, went to check on my box.  Where you see brown leaves in this picture was full of beautiful lush ferns.  I made my way very carefully to the box which is there and intact but hated the thought of stepping on the ferns.

Take the blue trail between these two rocks.

 

Enjoy the beauty of this trail.  Do your homework.

 

After you cross over this plank bridge, take the first left hand turn.

 

Take eight steps and then look to your right for this tree with a slanted rock in front of it.  For additional identification, there is a two trunk tree and a three trunk tree to the left of the tree and a two trunk tree behind it.

  

Then head into the town of Gouldsboro and enjoy this cute little railroad station.

Enter Parking Lot #5 and walk around the kiosk and the yellow gate.

  

See the trail register which was empty the day I was there.

 Walk till you see this blazed three trunk tree on the right side of the trail.

 A few steps further will lead you to the blazed four trunk tree on the left side of the trail.

If you reach the Lakeside Trail sign, you have gone too far.

 

Look into the woods on the left side between the two blazed trees for this multi trunk tree.  This tree has a twin about fifteen feet away.

 Now for the tricky park, I don't remember which tree the box is in, I think when you are facing the woods, it is the one on the right. It is under the rock behind that tree.

Civilian Conservation Corps

 The John Turn Farm is located on the east side of River Road, 1.8 miles south of US RT 209 or 6 miles northeast of Shawnee on Delaware in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County, PA.

 Look for this little trail on the left side of the restrooms.

 

Take about 20 steps and look to your left to see three hemlock trees in a row and to your right there should be five hemlock trees.   There is a single tree behind the fifth hemlock tree.

 

Find the box, then go back and look around at the picturesque ruins of the old farm.
